Top iPod Docks: Altec Lansing inMotion MIX iMT800
This ipod docking station plus FM radio is a great option for anyone who parties as it is designed for the “DJ lifestyle”. I has a loud and booming sound and the MIX runs on AC or battery power. You’ll always know how much battery life you have because the MIX will tell you on its display. You can expect up to 30 hours of play with eight “D” sized batteries. And, the MIX has nicely weight-balanced handles so you can take it on the road or around the house just as easily
Loaded with a 5.25-inch side-firing subwoofer and 5.25-inch tuned passive radiator, the MIX pumps out big natural bass, further enhanced with XdB technology for extra heavy punch. The sound is complete with a pair of 3-inch full-range drivers, a pair of 1-inch silk dome tweeters in a horn-loaded configuration. Beyond looking cool, the front-facing horns are engineered to disperse the high frequencies, which are otherwise highly directional for great sound throughout the entire room. It does get very loud.
Five Star User Reviews/ Feedback
The Altec MIX has had 118 reviews from users at the Amazon.com website and has an average of 4.5 stars overall. Of these 87 customers gave it 5 stars and 22 gave it 4.5 . This is pretty amazing positive feedback. User feedback can often be of more practical use than technical reviews from professionals who don’t own the set .
This is a lot cheaper than the Bose 10 sounddock which I believe to be the very best of the top 5 iPod docking stations. But, if you need a system to take to parties this will suit you better. The fact that it is portable is a important in this respect.
The list price for the MIX is $299 but Amazon.com has it for $212.07 at present. You can check todays price here:
