Bose SoundDock 10 Music System for iPod & iPhone
If you are looking for an iPod dock that gives you decent sound, I mean loud enough to fill a room, then the Bose is one you should consider. I bought this for myself. So perhaps you may think I am a bit biased but of course I did quite a lot of research before shelling out on this toy.
There was another contender for my hard earned dosh and that was the B&W Zeppelin which also has a great sound and is the same price.
It was a difficult choice but in the end the Zeppelin lost out because it is so huge! The Bose looks good and as it is going to be in the same room as me most of the time that mattered.
The Bose Sound dock 10 got a good review from the CNET people who gave it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
So what had CNET to say about the Bose Sounddock 10? First off it has no knobs or buttons, you control it with a remote. So don’t let the dog make off with the remote or you are sunk.
As far as the sound goes: “The centerpiece of the unit is a hefty, custom woofer, bracketed by two Bose Twiddler transducers …” The woofer makes the Bose Sounddock a lot heavier, at nearly 19 lbs, than the Sounddock series 11 or the SoundDock Portable. The sound quality was exceptional, the reviewers found that it “plays loud and without any distortion”. They reckon that Bose does deliver on its promise.
The Bose SoundDock 10 is a much better performer than its cheaper little brothers so if you haven’t been impressed by them don’t let that put you off. The SoundDock 10 delivers performance so powerful and lifelike, it could easily become your home’s main music system. The sound is loud enough to use at a party which is unusual for an iPod docking system.
The newly designed woofer has a larger magnet than conventional woofers–for powerful performance, with low notes you can feel. Bose digital signal processing circuitry enables finer control over the sound for more consistent, lifelike music reproduction even at low volume levels.
You’ll experience a vast tonal range, from the deep lows of a bass line to the soaring highs of a vocalist–thanks to advanced Bose waveguide speaker technology coupled with a highly efficient, one-of-a-kind new woofer. The waveguide, a long tube intricately folded inside the system, strengthens sound from the woofer to deliver deeper, stronger low notes you’ll notice right away. You can see a visual explanation of this in the video below.
This ipod dock is the best I have heard and although it does cost a little more it is worth the extra expense to get a really great sound from a docking system. I been really pleased with the Bose since I brought it home just before Christmas. I use it every day and a great sound is worth paying for. Why buy something that you know is less good and be irritated by it whenever you hear it?
